Singapore

What can I expect from Singapore?

Singapore is a vibrant, cosmopolitan city-state known for its stunning skyline, cleanliness, and diverse culture. Expect to be immersed in a melting pot of cultures with a blend of modernity and tradition. From the futuristic architecture of Marina Bay Sands to the lush greenery of Gardens by the Bay, Singapore offers a wide range of attractions including world-class shopping, dining, and entertainment. With its efficient public transport system and safety, Singapore is an excellent destination for both leisurely exploration and cultural experiences.

How to Get There

From the US, you can fly to Changi Airport (SIN), one of the world’s best airports, with airlines like Singapore Airlines, United Airlines, and Cathay Pacific, often with connections through hubs like Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Seoul.

Currency: The local currency of Singapore is the Singapore Dollar (SGD). Credit cards are widely accepted, but it’s useful to carry some local currency for smaller purchases. 1 US dollar is approximately equivalent to 1.36 SGD.

Language: English is one of the official languages and is widely spoken, especially in business and tourism areas. Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil are also official languages.

Credit Cards & ATMs: Credit cards are widely accepted throughout Singapore, including hotels, restaurants, and shops. ATMs are readily available and offer currency exchange services.

Plugs: The standard voltage is 230 V, and the frequency is 50 Hz. Singapore uses Type G plugs, so a universal adapter may be needed.

Safety: Singapore is known for being extremely safe with low crime rates. However, it’s always wise to stay aware of your surroundings and follow local laws and regulations.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:

Singapore has a tropical climate with consistent temperatures year-round. The best time to visit is from February to April when the weather is slightly cooler and drier. However, Singapore’s attractions are accessible year-round.
