How to Get There: From the US, you can fly into Augusto C. Sandino International Airport (MGA) in Managua. Major airlines including American Airlines, United Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Avianca, and Copa Airlines offer service from various US cities, often with direct flights or convenient connections through hubs such as Miami, Houston, Atlanta, Panama City, or San Salvador.
Currency: The official currency of Nicaragua is the Nicaraguan Córdoba (NIO). However, US dollars are widely accepted throughout the country, particularly in tourist destinations, hotels, restaurants, and resorts. Small denominations of US dollars are especially useful for tips and smaller purchases.
Language:Spanish is the official language of Nicaragua. English is commonly spoken in many tourist areas, resorts, and along parts of the Pacific Coast.
Credit Cards & ATMs: Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, resorts, and larger restaurants. Cash is recommended for local businesses, markets, and smaller establishments. ATMs are available in major cities and tourist destinations.
Plugs:The standard voltage is 120 V, with a frequency of 60 Hz. Nicaragua uses Type A and Type B plugs, the same as those used in the United States and Canada.

BEST TIME TO VISIT:
The best time to visit Nicaragua is during the dry season from November to April, when sunny skies, warm temperatures, and little rainfall create ideal conditions for beach vacations, surfing, outdoor adventures, and exploring the country’s colonial cities. The green season runs from May to October, bringing lush landscapes, fewer crowds, and occasional afternoon showers. While rain is more common during these months, mornings are often sunny, making it an excellent time for nature lovers, photographers, and travelers seeking a quieter experience. Many visitors find the shoulder months of May and November offer the perfect balance of beautiful weather, vibrant scenery, and fewer tourists.
