The Island of Hawaii possesses a raw beauty that is almost palpable.  From its eight different climate zones (out of fourteen worldwide) to its four active volcanoes and lava tubes that are visible from the main roads, Hawaii is truly a special destination.  Often referred to as the Big Island because it is the largest island in the state, it is also the youngest of the islands, and as such it feels more unruly and exotic than its sister islands.

Only a 15-minute drive from the airport, and situated perfectly for a variety of adventures, the Four Seasons Hualalai makes for an idyllic stay on Hawaii.  It gracefully blends with and stays true to the island’s natural ruggedness, while providing a  luxurious oceanfront retreat for creating lifelong memories.

Views, Views, Views

The Four Seasons Hualalai recently completed an extensive renovation of their guest rooms, amenities, and common spaces. The bungalow-style guest rooms and suites boast beautiful ocean views from their own private balconies, and lower-level suites offer a patio area and outdoor lava-rock showers.  Outfitted with residential-style furnishings in neutral tones complemented by darker wood elements, each room exudes a sense of warmth that makes guests feel at home.  All of the accommodations include a coffee bar, refrigerator, and dedicated desk/work area, as well as a tablet from which guests can order in-room dining, requests certain amenities, or make dinner reservations.  The bathrooms here are meant to pamper, with a rain shower, a large soaking tub, and luxurious toiletries. And beware- the beds and linens are extremely plush and out-of-this-world comfortable, so you may never want to leave!

Pools Galore, and So Much More

At the Four Seasons Hualalai, you will find seven unique pools, including an adult-only pool with a swim-up bar.  Children will have a difficult time deciding between the sand-bottom keiki pool or the King’s Pond, a 1.8-million-gallon swimmable aquarium with a resident spotted eagle ray and tons of colorful reef fish. Do your clients prefer the ocean over the pool?  They will find protected coves with white sand beaches and black lava rock tide pools on property that make for hours of ocean exploration.  Guests can enjoy fun-filled animal encounters and learn more about the local marine life at the new Kumu Kai Marine Center, where they can sign up to feed the fish and eagle ray, or even hold different species of sea urchins.

The Kids For All Seasons kid’s club is a huge highlight for the smaller guests.  They offer a daily schedule that includes activities like treasure hunts, fishing, and arts and craft projects.

The Four Seasons Hualalai prides itself on bringing the culture of Hawaii to its guests through an onsite Cultural Center with complimentary classes and activities, such as ukulele lessons, lei-making, and ancient Hawaiian navigation.

The resorts also strongly emphasizes health and wellness, as is evidenced by their extensive fitness center, offering yoga and pilates classes, Peloton bikes in the cardio room, tennis courts, and a separate weight room. If you are a golf enthusiast, prepare to be blown away!  The new Golf Hale at the Four Seasons Hualalai is a golfer’s dream!  With private lessons from a golf pro and every technology available to the world of golf instruction, your clients will improve their swing in no time.  The recently refurbished 18-hole Jack Nicklaus’ golf course is a stunning landscape of vibrant green fairway and contrasting black lava rock- amazing!  It makes even non-golfers want to take a swing.

At the Four Seasons Hualalai, you can rest assured that you will be properly cared for, regardless of your needs.  My husband and I often kid that we could literally leave our toiletry bags at home when visiting a Four Seasons property, and this holds true on the Big Island.  They even have self-use laundry rooms throughout the resort property with detergent and dryer sheets, which is a huge convenience for longer-staying guests and families.

Mouth-Watering Cuisine

Dining at the Four Seasons Hualalai deserves special mention, as we never had a dish that was “just OK”, and the variety of options on-property are vast.  Each of the restaurants here provide a different overall experience, yet you can’t go wrong with any.  From California cuisine with a Mediterranean twist, to seafood and dishes sourced from local farms served beachside, to an American steakhouse that overlooks the 18th hole of the Hualalai Golf Course, even gourmet-lovers will delight in the offerings. And don’t get me started on ‘Ulu Sushi Lounge!  Enjoy a stunning sunset at this memorable eatery, while the chef serves up mouth-watering slices of the freshest fish on the island.  The otoro is a must!  Pair your meal with one of their carefully crafted cocktails, and I guarantee you will be reminiscing about this experience long after you’ve left Hawaii.

A vacation to the Big Island can easily cater to a variety of vacation styles, and as you can see, it is especially family-friendly.  Whether they enjoy a more active and engaging getaway or a kickback and indulge-type of vacation, your clients will find Hawaiian bliss at the Four Seasons Hualalai.
