  >  Asia   >  A Family Paradise in Vietnam: Six Senses Ninh Van Bay

As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm glow over the pristine waters of Ninh Van Bay, I found myself in awe of the beauty that surrounds me. Nestled in a secluded bay in Vietnam, the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay resort is a true gem that seamlessly blends luxury with adventure, making it the perfect destination for families seeking a memorable and rejuvenating vacation experience.

A Superb Resort in a Stunning Setting

Accessible only by boat, the journey to Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam is itself an adventure, offering a glimpse of the stunning landscape that awaits guests upon arrival. The resort sits on a dramatic coral bay with golden sand, and blends perfectly with the local forest and towering mountains. As one reaches the resort’s wooden jetty, you can instantly feel the stresses of everyday life melting away, replaced by a sense of tranquility and excitement for the adventures that lie ahead.

You will be greeted with cold, fragrant towels, warm smiles and impeccable service to set the tone for your entire stay. Actually, our experience began the day before we stepped foot on this island in Vietnam, when we received a kind message from our GEM (guest experience manager), or butler, confirming our arrival details and asking if there was anything we needed her to prepare for us in anticipation of our visit. We were blown away by the attention to detail.

Unassuming Luxury

Accommodations at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay are nothing short of spectacular. You will find a combination of pool villas on the beach and others dramatically nestled between the rocks. Our family stayed in a spacious and beautifully appointed 2-bedroom beach villa, with direct private access to the beach and stunning views of the bay. The villa was designed with a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comforts, featuring a private plunge pool, outdoor shower and a large terrace where we could relax and soak in the natural beauty that surrounded us. The details in every aspect of the villa’s design were truly remarkable, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. For a more over-the-top experience, book in The Rock Retreat or The Water Reserve, both of which are 3-bedroom villas with ensuite bathrooms and a water slide to the private pool. Trust me, it’s a villa they will be talking about for years to come.

Activities for Days

One of the highlights of our stay at Six Senses Ninh Van Bay was the vast range of experiences available to guests of all ages. You can easily visit the resort for two weeks or more, and still not have the opportunity to participate in all of the activities on hand. From snorkeling, kayaking and other watersports in the crystal-clear waters of the bay to hiking through the lush jungle that surrounds the resort and observing the critically endangered Vietnamese langur monkey, there’s no shortage of opportunities to explore and connect with the natural beauty of the area. Want to learn to make handmade soap, body scrub, incense, or coconut oil? You can head to Alchemy Bar for a myriad of hands-on experiences.

For families traveling with children, the resort offers an amazing kids’ club called Grow with Six Senses, where young guests can participate in engaging and educational activities while parents enjoy some well-deserved relaxation time. With a playground, zipline and water play area outside and a climbing wall, toys and art area indoors, the kids will simply not want to leave.

Only in Vietnam — Culinary & Wellness Delights

The culinary options at the Six Senses Ninh Van Bay in Vietnam are simply extraordinary. There are several restaurants and multiple dining options nightly within the restaurants themselves.  From beachfront barbecues to gourmet meals at the resort’s signature restaurant, Dining By the Bay, we were treated to a diverse array of flavors and cuisines that delighted our taste buds. The resort’s commitment to sustainability is evident in every meal, with most ingredients sourced locally and prepared with a focus on freshness and quality. You can even visit the onsite chicken coup in the morning and pick your own eggs for the chefs to prepare your breakfast. As you can imagine, this is a hit with the kids. For a more upscale experience, guests can visit the Rocks Restaurant, which hosts different fine dining menus several times per week.

For those seeking relaxation and rejuvenation, it doesn’t get much better than a Six Senses spa. A brand that is highly renowned for its commitment to health and wellness, the Six Senses Spa at Ninh Van Bay is a sanctuary of wellbeing and tranquility. Nestled among the lush tropical foliage, the spa offers a range of holistic treatments and therapies designed to promote healing and renewal of the body, mind and spirit. The spa also hosts a range of offerings, such as sound bath meditations and massage workshops. I, myself, indulged in a traditional Vietnamese massage that left me feeling refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to take on whatever the next day had in store.

However, my absolute favorite spa activity was one we participated in as a family, where my children “learned to be therapists,” while my husband and I where the test subjects—so fun and unique.

In the world of travel, there are few destinations that manage to capture the essence of paradise quite like this paradise in Vietnam. From luxurious accommodations and world-class dining to exciting activities and holistic wellness experiences, it truly has it all. Whether you are seeking a romantic getaway, a family vacation or a solo retreat, this resort offers something for everyone. With its stunning natural beauty, impeccable service and a diverse range of activities, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay is sure to impress even the most seasoned travelers.
