Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory in the Eastern Caribbean. It is home to large, secluded beaches of white powdery sand. It’s also known for its cuisine and has earned the nickname of “The Culinary Capital of The Caribbean.
Currency: The local currency is the Eastern Caribbean dollar (EC$). It compares to the US Dollar at around EC$2.7 = 1 US Dollar. US Dollars are widely accepted.
Language: English is the official language of Anguilla.
Credit Cards & ATMs: You can use your credit card at most hotels, car-rental companies, restaurants, and shops on the island. However, you should always have cash on you in case it’s not possible to pay with a card. You’ll find ATM’s at the four banks on the island.
Plugs: The standard voltage is 110 V, and the frequency is 60 Hz. I recommend bringing a universal adapter with surge protection. Make sure to use a converter for hair dryers.
Safety: Anguilla is generally safe, other than petty theft. Don’t leave valuables alone.
The off-season runs roughly mid-April to mid-December. You’ll get warm weather without the crowds, although be aware that hurricane season runs July – November.
