Four Seasons in Punta Mita, a perfect choice for the whole family!
So you want to go on a baby moon, but you have to take the kids. I hear you! I was in the same boat in July of 2016. We wanted to get away and relax before Baby #3 arrived, but we couldn’t leave our girls (ages 3 and 18 months at the time) behind. So at almost 7 months pregnant, I started researching resorts that could provide activities for all different ages, while allowing me to do as little as possible! The Four Seasons resort in Punta Mita was the perfect location! Relatively easy to get to, right on the beach, surfable waves (for Josh, since I was out of commission) and amazing amenities… I was sold!
Getting There
The FS Punta Mita is located within a small peninsula on the Pacific Coast of Mexico, overlooking Banderas Bay. It is only 45 minutes away from Puerto Vallarta by car. Flights to Puerto Vallarta are available from many US cities. From Southern California, it couldn’t be easier, since both Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines fly nonstop to Puerto Vallarta. We flew Southwest there and Alaska back due to pricing. We reserved our stay through Tropicsurf, since Josh booked several surf sessions with their guides during our stay. They arranged a pickup from the hotel, which included car seats for the children.
The Room
We had a Beachfront Casita, which was total perfection. 60 sqm/645sqft with one King bed and a sofa bed for the girls. The sofa bed was not the most comfortable for us, but it was fine for the kids. The best part of the room is a small porch area in the back, where you can walk right out onto the beach. Josh and I could sit on our loungers and watch the kids play in the sand. It was great during Abby’s nap time as well, since Emma could play in the sand, while Abby napped in the room. They also have an area to rinse the sand of your feet before entering the room, which came in handy with 2 sandy kids!
They also provide a series of goodies for the kids that just made our day. From mini bathrobes and slippers, to foam letters that spelled their names to play with in the tub, to personalized cookies.
The Service
It’s obvious that the staff at the FS Punta Mita takes great pride in the service they provide. The resort is perfectly kept, and everywhere you go you are welcomed with a smile! From the moment you arrive, you are treated to a cold drink and snack before they show you to your room.
The Food
You can’t really go wrong with Mexican food, but the Four Seasons takes Mexican cuisine to another level. The breakfast buffet is grand in it selections and presentation. They also have children’s plates, cups and cutlery for the little ones. And kids eat complimentary of of the kids’ menu, which is a huge plus!
We usually had lunch on the beach, which was delicious. Their selection of aguachiles and other Mexican antojitos is to die for! and of course, the guacamole is a must!
If you are not preggo, their tequila menu is jaw-dropping. And if you are or you just don’t drink alcohol, they can make you agua fresca (fruit-flavored water) with a variety of fresh fruit.
The Amenities
The resort is chock full of amenities and activities. They have 10 tennis courts, a beautiful Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course, a fitness center, 3 pools (including a lazy river), a water sports center, an amazing spa, surfing with Tropicsurf guides, a kids’ club, and so much more. If you want to just post up in one spot for the day, they have beach and pool cabanas that you can rent for the day.
Our kids were too young for the kids’ club, so the highlight of our trip was the lazy river! The lazy river area has inner-tube and noodle floats and an underwater sound system, which makes it perfect for a family float. They also serve Icee’s poolside, which was a huge hit with the kids! When the kids had had enough of what they called the “amazon pool” (because of all the foliage), we would head back to our room to order lunch on the beach, while the kids played in the sand.
