Mountain Luxury for the Entire Family

Whether you enjoy outdoor sports as a family or you’re simply looking for a revitalizing getaway, you’ll discover mountain luxury at the Feuerstein Nature Family Resort. Set in a stunning valley in the Pflersch Mountains of South Tyrol, the Feuerstein Resort is surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, cascading waterfalls, and gurgling streams. Guests will feel a sense of awe and serenity as they arrive at this idyllic resort with their little ones—where the surroundings are almost too beautiful to be true. Only a short 35-minute drive from Innsbruck and a 2-hour drive from Verona, the Feuerstein Nature Family Resort is easily accessible, and yet it feels like you are worlds away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Room For Everyone

At the Feuerstein Nature Resort, the guestrooms are as stylish as they are comfortable. The choices range from double rooms to family rooms, family suites and chalets that can accommodate four to six persons comfortably in a variety of layouts. Our family of five enjoyed the Family Room Amethyst. At 409-sq.-ft., it is comprised of two rooms—one with a king size bed and seating area and the other, a children’s room with built-in bunkbeds. All guestrooms are modern chic, highly functional spaces with simple furnishings, and natural wood and stone elements. They are cozy and inviting, with amenities that are catered specifically to each guest. From robes and flip-flops for the entire family (in the correct size for each of us!), to a changing pad and diaper genie if there’s a baby or toddler in tow, to a carafe of silver quartzite water with an explanation of its health benefits, your clients will be made to feel cared for during their stay. Did I mention they leave a different bedtime story hanging from your door knob every night? My favorite part of the guestroom, however, apart from the attention to detail, has to be the balcony. Every guestroom has a balcony that offers unrivaled views of the surrounding mountains. Sitting on our balcony, taking in the crisp, fresh air with its hint of pine scent, and gazing at the waterfalls quickly became a morning ritual that we will not soon forget.

Call of The Great Outdoors

As welcoming as the accommodations are, travelers are bound to feel the outdoors calling during their stay at the Feuerstein. The resort is open year-round and caters to both summer and winter activities, with each season offering a new set of adventures. We visited in the summertime, where one could access a variety of hiking and biking paths, some even stroller-friendly. A short distance from the resort, guests will find a myriad of active and cultural experiences, such as white-water rafting, a ziplining course, local museums, ancient castles, and even a silver mine.

In the winter, there’s ice skating and tobogganing directly on the property, a guided ski tour, or of clients want to venture off-site, there are three different ski resorts within 30 minutes that are all covered by one ski pass. The resort has a magic carpet for the little ones who are learning to ski and a complimentary shuttle for those who would like to take lessons at Fichti’s Kinderland, only five minutes away. Whether guests choose to go out or decide to stay in, one thing is for sure—the possibilities are endless!

A Child’s Delight

Feuerstein Nature Family Resort is a holiday destination for every family member, especially the children. Apart from its unparalleled car-free nature setting, the resort has mastered the idea of a balanced family vacation, allowing for a mixture of time spent together as a family and maybe some much-needed “me” time or parent time. One can’t go wrong either way, as it is a true heaven on earth for little ones. Their kid’s program is unlike any childcare I have seen at any hotel, anywhere in the world. It is well-rounded and meaningful, based on Montessori principles. It has the feel of an excellent summer camp, where children participate in group activities that enhance learning and social skills. The child care programs are divided by age groups for babies and toddlers up to 3 years old, children 4-11, and teens, with age-appropriate activities, both indoor and outdoor, for each group. The child care extends beyond the daytime program to what they call “Kid’s table and Feuerstein time,” from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Children can enjoy a delicious, healthy meal with their new friends and participate in one last activity or story time before heading off to bed.

One of the most impressive aspects of the daily program at the Feuerstein is how it promotes family bonding through the parent-child activities. The resort houses an art studio and a woodwork shop, where parents can put their creativity to the test side-by-side with their children. The program also includes weekly family hikes and archery lessons.

For rainy days, or just plain old lazy days, the resort has a large selection of board games; a giant indoor sandpit, where kids can get down and dirty with sensory play; a game room, outfitted with table tennis, fussball, and more; and a library.

Amenities Galore

Amenities abound at this amazing resort. If your clients enjoy swimming, then they’re in for a real treat. There are several indoor pools, including a splash pool for babies, and multiple water slides. The outdoor heated pool has an indoor entrance with sliding glass doors that open when guests are ready to swim outside. There is also a large swimming pond, which freezes over to become the ice skating rink in the winter.

Feuerstein Resort has an impressively large gym, with all of the cardio and weight training equipment one could want for a complete workout. They have an indoor sports arena and a play barn, complete with a trampoline, indoor slide, dress up room, and rope swing.

Guided adults-only hikes, weekly yoga sessions, and an adults-only sauna area are a few of the amenities that parents can enjoy while the little ones are being cared for at the kid’s club.

And, of course, there is the mountain spa, which is such a treat! As the first spa in Europe to run on Alpine natural resources, it offers massages and body treatments for adults and children as well.

Culinary Genius

A stay at the Feuerstein Resort includes ¾ luxury board, meaning a buffet breakfast, an afternoon snack, and a 5-course dinner. The restaurant serves sophisticated Alpine cuisine with locally sourced ingredients. The area of South Tyrol is a blend of two cultures, Mediterranean and Alpine, and the restaurant expertly incorporates both in their mouth-watering, health-conscious dishes. My husband and I consider ourselves to be foodies, and cuisine at the Feuerstein was nothing short of impressive in creativity of flavors and ingredients, presentation, and, of course, taste. Their choices of wine and spirits were exceptional, and the service was praiseworthy as well. For the children who are not participating in the Kid’s Table, there is a children’s buffet, where children can serve their own plate and choose from a variety of fresh juices. Another nice touch is the fact that each family has an assigned table for the duration of their stay. The table is set specifically to accommodate each family’s needs, with highchairs or bassinets, bibs, and children’s cutlery as needed.

The logo for the Feuerstein Nature Family Resort is a heart with a small home incorporated into the outline of the heart. I found this to be very appropriate because of their commitment to nature, their understanding of family, and their philosophy of finding balance. I can honestly say that I felt at home during our visit to the Feuerstein. It is so much more than just a hotel; it is truly a special place.
